Karatay Journal of Art and Design publishes research papers written according to Apa 7 spelling rules. Articles that do not follow the spelling rules of the journal will not be accepted for publication.
1. Article Submission Requirements
Language: Articles must be submitted in either Turkish or English. The author is responsible for the accuracy of the language used.
File format: Manuscripts will only be accepted in .doc or .docx format.
Font type and size: The main text should be typed in 12-point Times New Roman, while headings should be typed in 14-point fonts using the same characters.
Line spacing: The text should be written with a line spacing of 1.5 pt. and the paragraphs should be set to a line spacing of 1 pt.
Page Limit: Manuscripts should be between 5,000 and 10,000 words (including references and appendices).
Margins: Margins should be 2.5 cm in each direction.
Numbering: Pages should be numbered from the bottom right-hand corner.
2. Title of the Article and Author Information
- Title of the Article: The title of the article should be bold, 14 pt and centered. Only the first letter of each word should be capitalized.
- Author Information:
- Below the title of the article, the full name, academic title, institutional affiliation and e-mail address of each author should be included.
- Authors should be listed in order of their contributions.
- An asterisk (*) should be placed next to the name of the corresponding author and explained in a footnote.
- Abstract and Keywords:
- Two abstracts, one in Turkish and one in English, should be included at the beginning of the article.
- The abstract should be between 200 and 250 words and should cover purpose, methodology, findings and results of the study.
- Keywords should be listed below the abstract and should be a minimum of 5 words and a maximum of 7 words.
3. Main Text Layout
- Headings:
- First-Level Headings: 14-point font, bold, and centered.
- Second-Level Headings: 12-point font, bold, and left-aligned.
- Third-Level Headings: Italic and left-aligned.
- Paragraphs: There should be a 1.25 cm indent in the first line.
- Quotations and Citations:
- Short quotations (less than 40 words) should be placed in quotation marks. Long quotations (40 words or more) should be placed in a separate paragraph, indented 1.25 cm, and not in italics.
- APA 7 (e.g. Smith, 2021) should be used.
- Indirect quotations (quoting a primary source from a secondary source) should be referenced according to APA 7 standards.
- Footnotes: The use of footnotes should be minimized. When necessary, they should be typed in 10-point font and single-spaced.
4. Figures, Tables, and Charts
- General Principles:
- Each figure, table, and charts should be cited the first time it is mentioned in the text.
- Images should be of high resolution and tables should be clear and easy to read.
- Numbering and Titles:
- Figures should be numbered as follows: "Figure X: Description" and tables should be numbered as follows: "Table X: Description".
- Titles of tables should be placed at the top of the table and titles of figures should be placed at the bottom of the figure.
5. References
- General Formatting:
- The References section should begin on a new page at the end of the text.
- Authors should be listed alphabetically by surname, and the order of authors should be maintained in works with more than one author.
- APA 7 should be used.
